R&D corner
Specific research questions often require specific experimental approaches and sensors that are not commercially available. Using our in-house expertise and infrastructure in combination with external collaborators, we develop new measurement techniques and sensors enabling us to address questions that cannot easily be investigated using established technology.
- Miniature wind tunnel for measuring all components of surface and leaf energy balance
- Can acoustic emissions patterns signal imminence of avalanche events in a growing sand pile?
- Characteristics of Turbulent Airflow Deduced from Rapid Surface Thermal Fluctuations: An Infrared Surface Anemometer
- Wireless acoustic emission sensor for monitoring and prediction in early warning systems for rapid mass movements
- Soil water content sensor
- Apparatus for measuring the Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity of sand, soils and granular matter
- Modular subsurface borehole-tower for vadose zone monitoring
- Shear Frame
